While traveling in South India, Lord Caitanya secured a copy of Brahma-samhita and brought it back to Jagannatha Puri for His devotees, revealing the importance of this book. The original text was composed by Lord Brahma, the first created being in the universe after Vedic knowledge was revealed to him directly by Lord Krsna.

"Sriman Mahaprabhu has taught this hymn to his favorite disciples in as much as it fully contains all the transcendental truths regarding the Vaisnava philosophy. Narada Muni travels to various holy places - and even to different planets - searching for devotees who have attained the mercy of Krsna.

During these travels, Narada encounters a variety of devotees who all praise the qualities of other devotees, seemingly more advanced than themselves. In this way the author, Sanatana Goswami, gradually reveals the exalted qualities of brahmanas, rajarsis, Indra, Lord Brahma, Lord Siva, Prahlada, Hanuman, the Pandavas, the Yadus, Uddhava, and the residents of Vraja.

Finally Narada travels to Dvaraka, and by the wonderful arrangements of lila-shakti Lord Krsna is brought to an uncommon state of ecstasy.

"Internal & External Reasons for the Lord's Appearance as Caitanya Mahaprabhu" Krsnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami begins his epic about Lord Caitanya stating fourteen introductory verses. He then embellishes on those verses throughout the rest of the book. Verses 5 & 6 of the original slokas describe in seed form confidential reasons for the Lord's appearance as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

When Krsna was living in Mathura after leaving Vrndavana, He sent a message of love to the residents of Vrajabhumi through His intimate friend Uddhava. This is known as Uddhava-sandesa. Similarly, Srimati Radharani's intimate friend Lalita sent a message to Krsna in Mathura through a swan messenger. In a mood of loving enviousness she explains her heartfelt wishes to the swan in Srila Rupa Gosvami's Hamsaduta.
